Title:
Plan of the provincial capital Chernigov
Subject:
urban history
Description:
The Desna River flows east to west along the southern edge of Chernigov and the existence of seasonal floodplains suggests that the river behaves badly each spring. Yet the cathedral, government offices, and a plethora of parish churches densify the southern end of town... as if they just couldn't resist the lure of the water.
