What a perfect expression of indecision on the part of the planners. They knew the apothecary would be centrally-located, dominating one of the symmetrically-placed squares that would flank the main market square (1). But would the apothecary end up on the west side or the east? (Imagine a long, steady, dramatic drum roll...)
