Two churches and the residence of the archbishop are located within the picturesque fortress at Belgorod. Two more churches are outside the southwest corner, and two more along the west wall.

The fortress is surrounded by lakes Chistoe and Tinovatoe and the Diamlianka River. The area on the other side of the lakes looks to be covered in vegetation. Perhaps it is hilly. There is a small church to the north.
