Fairs (ярмарки)

This section contains a series of map pairs generated from the data on goods traded at late 18th century fairs (iarmarky) published by Boris Mironov in his study of Russia's internal market (Table 12). In each pair, the map on the left shows the share of all fairs in European Russia in which the particular good or category of goods played a significant role. The map on the right shows the significance of the same, this time as a share of the total number of fairs in the region. (Mironov provides the data aggregated by region.)

Together these map pairs demonstrate the difference - often it is a stark difference - between the economic perspective of center and region.
